ROLE/ FUNCTIONS: The Administrative Department deals with policy matters as per guidelines issued by Govt. of India on implementation of T P D S, other Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Consumer Affairs. The Head of Department ( Directorate ) monitors the implementation of T P D S and Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the Districts / Sub - Divisions and ensure submission of periodical reports / returns to the Govt. of India. The functioning of Consumer Courts viz., State Commission and District Fora are monitored by the Directorate and quarterly reports on Cases registered with Consumer Courts are submitted regularly to the Govt. of India. The Deputy Commissioners / Sub - Divisional Officers implement the T P D S, through various agencies, like Govt. nominees (lifting of PDS stocks from FCI ) and Fair Price Shop Dealers. While the nominees or agents engaged in lifting of commodities from FCI are appointed by the Government, the Deputy Commissioner/Sub divisional Officers appoint Fair Price Shop dealers on the recommendation of the Village Durbars/Local consumers. The Deputy Commissioners / Sub - Divisional Officers are entrusted with the lifting of PDS Commodities from the FCI and Central Agencies like Oil Companies and distribution of the same to the Consumers through Fair Price Shops. Other Centrally Sponsored Schemes like Antyodaya Anna Yojna and Annapurna are also implemented through the Deputy Commissioner, (S), / Sub - Divisional officers, (S). |
